Fayetteville High School Seeks New Principal

The process and timeline to hire the next new principal for Fayetteville High School were announced to the Fayetteville Board of Education tonight by Superintendent Dr. Matthew Wendt.

“The best high school in the state merits the best leader,” said Dr. Wendt. “We are ambitious in our requirements and expectations, but our community and school district are destination places and deserving of the best leader we can find. The sky is the limit at FHS. We will find the person with the traits and characteristics to lead, collaborate with others and guide the high school to not only statewide recognition, but national recognition.”

The position will be posted December 15, with candidate interviews scheduled for late January and early February. The job posting will be distributed to numerous professional organizations, state associations and national high school principal job sites. “We have carefully considered the selection process and will include many FHS teachers and staff, school and district leaders, parents, community members and high school students,” continued Dr. Wendt.

Fayetteville High School staff members were provided the opportunity to meet with Dr. Wendt to hear details about the process and be invited to offer electronic input on the hiring of the principal. Dr. Wendt expects to recommend the finalist for FHS principal at the February 22 meeting of the Board of Education.

“I anticipate that educational leaders from throughout the United States will be very interested in becoming a part of our outstanding public school district and Fayetteville community,” said Dr. Wendt. “This is Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is Fayetteville Public Schools. Although we have work ahead of us, I am very excited to meet the most highly qualified candidates and introduce them to one of the best communities and premier public school districts in the nation.”
