Arkansas Department of Higher Education Scholarships

Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship (Lottery) 
Award Amount: $1,000 in year one; $4,000 in years two and three; $5,000 in year four
Eligibility: A score of 19 on the ACT or ACT equivalent score. The FAFSA is required to receive this scholarship.

Arkansas Governor's Distinguished Scholarship
Award Amount: $10,000 per year for four years
Eligibility: A score of 32 on the ACT or a 1410 on the SAT and a 3.5 academic grade point average. Those who are named National Merit Finalists or National Achievement Scholars may qualify without meeting the GPA requirement, but must still meet the ACT/SAT requirement. The scholarship pays tuition, mandatory fees, room and board up to $10,000 per year.

Arkansas Higher Education Opportunities Grant (GO! Grant)
Award Amount: $1,000 ($500 per semester) for full time students
Eligibility: Student must be an Arkansas resident for at least 12 months prior to applying for the grant. Student also must meet the financial need criteria established for the GO! Grant and attend an approved Arkansas institution. FAFSA required to receive this scholarship.

Eligibility criteria: High School Seniors must be unconditionally admitted to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, have a cumulative high school GPA of a 3.6 and a composite ACT score of a 24 or equivalent SAT score.

Fayetteville Public Education Foundation - Marty Thurlby Deweese Study Abroad Grant
The Marty Thurlby Deweese Study Abroad Grant will provide financial support to current or former Fayetteville High School students for study or travel abroad. It is based on merit and need and encourages: (1) foreign travel; (2) the study of foreign language; (3) the exploration of other cultures, and (4) understanding of other peoples and an awareness of ourselves as world citizens.

Fayetteville Public Education Foundation - Blake Croxdale Writing Award
The Blake Croxdale Writing Award is presented to a graduating senior who shows exceptional promise as a writer. In addition to the completed application, you must submit a writing sample, current transcript covering the last seven academic semesters, two photographs of yourself, and a reference by a teacher at Fayetteville High School who has knowledge of writing, i.e. English, creative writing, or journalism.

Fayetteville Public Education Foundation - Class of 1952 Scholarship
Eligibility: This scholarship is intended for future education majors, with a preferred focus in teaching math or science. This application is for students enrolled at FHS and planning on attending the University of Arkansas for at least one year. Beore the deadline, please submit the finished application, a current transcript covering the last seven academic semesters, a photograph of yourself and two letters of recommendation.

Fayetteville Public Education Foundation - Matthew Siebenmorgen Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: The Matthew J. Siebenmorgen Memorial Scholarship is intended for an outstanding FHS senior who will be attending a college or university upon graduation and will not likely receive other major scholarship awards. The scholarship is intended to commemorate the ideals and life of Matthew, who was an outstanding student academically, was in excellent standing among his teachers, and was dedicated to family, church and civic activities. He had a tremendous work ethic, particularly in home, community and church activities.

Holcomb Elementary PTO Scholarship

Eligibility:  Must be an FHS senior who attened Holcomb for five years and who has achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in his/her high school coursework. It is recommended that the student has participated in extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership or community involvement. State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a high school senior who will graduate at the end of the 2016-17 school year and plan to enroll full time in undergraduate study at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational technical school for the entire 2017-18 school year; have a cumulative GPA of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; be a US Citizen; and demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility: Student must be an FHS senior who attended Leverett Elementary. It is recommended that the student has participated in extra-curricular activities that demonstrate leadership or community involvement. This is a $1,000 scholarship.

Eligibility: (1) Must be an Arkansas senior in high school; (2) Must be pursuing a degree in plant science related field which includes but is not limited to horticulture, botany, agronomy, forestry, plant science, landscape architecture design, or turf management.

Fayetteville Junior Civic League Scholarships
Eligibility: Must be an FHS high school senior with a minimum GPA. This scholarships seeks to reward students who best exemplify character through classroom achievement, school and community involvement or work experience. Priority will be given to students who have not received more than $5,000 in academic scholarships. Ten scholarships will be given in the amount of $500 each. Recipients must attend the Senior Scholarship Program on May 16, 2017.

Junior Civic League Scholarship Application

Washington County Farm Bureau Scholarship
Eligibility: (1) Children, step-children, grandchildren or step-grandchildren of a Washington County Farm Bureau Member (must be a member for at least one year). (2) Must be a current High School senior who plans to enroll full time in a college, university, community college or technical school. (3) May also be a currently enrolled college student.

American Legion Coudret Trust Foundation and Garner Trust Foundation Scholarships
Eligibility: The student applicant must have a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent who is a Legionnaire. The American Legion, Department of Arkansas, is offering eight scholarships to be awarded in the spring of 2017. Four of the scholarships are from the Coudret Trust Foundation in the amount of $1,000 each and are available for students who choose to attend an Arkansas or out of state institution of higher learning and four are from the Garner Trust Foundation in the amount of $2,500 each and are available to students that will attend an Arkansas college, university, technical or trade school. Both scholarships are one time awards and are not renewable. Students may apply for either or both scholarships; however, only one scholarship will be awarded per applicant.  Applications are available in the College and Career Center.

Kimberly-Clark Girls on the Run Scholarship 
Eligibility Criteria: (1) Be an alumna of the Girls on the Run of Northwest Arkansas Program or Girls on the Run. Preference will be given to GOTR of NWA Alumna (family members of GOTR of Northwest Arkansas staff, board members and Kimberly Clark Corpoiration's employees are not eligible) (2) Attend an accredited college or university or vocational/technical school in the coming fall as a full-time student; (3) Have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. This is a $5,000 award that is non-renewable. Selection Criteria: (1) Demonstrate the GOTR vision of embracing joy, health and confidence in life; (2) Demonstrate leadership qualities and compassion through activities; (3) The scholarship will not be solely based on financial need.

Feriba McNair Middle School Scholarship
Eligibility:  This scholarship is intended for any Fayetteville High School senior who attended McNair Middle School. The student must demonstrate not only superior academic achievement, but also show involvement in extra-curricular activities. The recipient must attend the FHS Senior Scholarships Program on May 16, 2017. There will be two scholarships awarded in the amount of $500 each.

Arkansas Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Eligibility: (1) The applicant must be a member or the child of a member in good standing with Arkansas Federal Credit Union who also (2) is a college bound senior; (3) is attending college for the first time in the fall of 2017; (4)
will be enrolled in at two year or four year institution; (5) agrees to use all scholarship funds before August 17, 2017. This is a one time award of $5,000.

Truity Credit Union Scholarship
Eligibility: Open to high school seniors graduating in 2017 who are members of Truity Credit Union. Contestants will be required to provide information regarding their scholastic achievement, community service and volunteer work and school activities and involvement. The application also includes posting a 15-second Instagram video showing us how you are helping people in the community. They will need to use the hashtag #TruityCUscholarship.

Anne Pressly Scholarship

Eligibility: Applicant must be a (1) a female graduate of any Arkansas high School who is enrolling in a four-year university and pursuing a career in journalism; (2) have a minimum GPA of 3.5; (3) demonstrated financial need; (4) proof of community involvement and participation in an extracurricular activity; and (5)have an ACT score of 24 or higher. This is a one time scholarship of $2,000.

Vivint Smart Home Scholarship
Eligibility: Any high school senior or college student who is a legal resident of the the U.S. may apply. The student must enroll in a college no later than September 30, 2017. The winner is not based on financial need and will be judged by the required submitted video. The student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules.

Arkansas Schoool Plant Management Association Scholarship
Eligibility:  To be considered applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in high school work and at least a 19 on the ACT. The Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) seeks to promote continued education by offering scholarships to deserving students in recognition of their leadership, scholastic achievement and civic participation.  Any graduating high school senior planning to attend a College/University, Vocational-Technical or Trade School is eligible to apply. ASPMA awards up to $10,000 annually in increments ranging from $1000 to $5000 based on the Scholarship Committee’s evaluation of selection criteria.  Scholarships are eligible for renewal when funds are available.

Celebrating Solomon Simpson Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be an FHS senior who will attend college in the fall of 2017. Almost four years ago, four friends of Solomon Simpson created an endowed scholarship to honor their friendship to, and honor his memory. Their goal is to recognize and reward some of the qualities that helped define Solomon’s “essence”. These include his exuberance in all things, creativity, and friendly and inclusive-open nature. In this way, we remember and celebrate his memory.

Field Agent Achieving Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility: The Field Agent Achieving Excellence Scholarship is presented to graduating high school seniors,
who intend on pursuing post-secondary education as described by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Post-secondary Education. Educational institutions may include universities, academies, colleges, seminaries, institutes of technology, vocational and trade schools. All qualified students, regardless of GPA, are encouraged to apply. In light of this flexibility, only complete, on-time applications will be considered. This is a one-time $500 scholarship.

Eligibility: (1) Student must be a high school senior from Washington County and, (2) Each applicant must enroll as a full-time student in an accredited university or college, including junior, community, vocational or technical college in the fall of 2017. FMK Scholarship Application 


Ozarks Electric High Voltage Lineman Scholarship
Eligibility: Ozarks Electric will award a scholarship to one 2017 graduating senior to attend Arkansas State University at Newport, Arkansas for High Voltage Lineman certification during the 2017-2018 academic year. This scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior living in Ozarks Electric Cooperative’s service territory. The value of this scholarship is $7,970 and the training is for one calendar year. The High Voltage Lineman certification is equivalent to 42 college credits and provides complete training for a career as an electrical line worker. The scholarship pays for the books, tuition, equipment and fees for the student’s training. The recipient will be responsible for room and board.

The Ernest Whitelaw-Don Kinney Scholarship awarded by The American Indian Center of Arkansas
Eligibility: (1) applicants must be of documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe; (2) a CDIB card or tribal enrollment documentation from a federal reconized tribe must be attached. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, community service, school activities, financial need, and references. This is a one time award of $500.

Ozarks Electric Cooperative Scholarship
Eligibility: Current high school seniors who parents or guardians are members of Ozarks Electric are eligible to apply for the scholarship in their school. Each applicant must enroll as a full-time student in an accredited university or college, including junior, community, vocational or technical college. OECC offers a scholarship to one eligible senior from each high school in its service territory. These scholarships will be awarded annually and are non-renewable. Gable Sloan Bakery Scholarship
Eligibility:  A Fayetteville High School Senior with plans to attend college in the fall of 2017, entering for the Gable’s Bakery Scholarship is easy. Just write an essay between 500 -1,000 words telling me how you serve your

The AAPI represents the interests of 100,000 physicians of Indian origin in the USA and is one of the largest professional medical societies in the USA.NWA  of AAPI recognizes students for their academic excellence and service to the local and/or global community.
Eligibility: (1) Applicant must be a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better; (2) Must submit written statement describing community service experience and leadership skills; (3) one to three letters of recommendation documenting community service/leadership skills; and (4) proof of annual household income to be less than $50,000. There will be one scholarship awarded in the amount of $1,000.
