January 24th taste test - Harvest of the Month - Sweet Potato

January 24 is the Sweet Potatoes taste test in the cafeteria.

Harvest of the Month is hosted by the FPS Seed to Student program to get students excited about eating fresh seasonal foods available where they live. Each month, an Arkansas grown item will be featured on school menus and salad bars, cafeteria signage, recipe cards sent to parents and staff, and taste tests during lunchtime.

January's Harvest of the Month is the stupendous SWEET POTATO!

This month students and staff will sample Ranchero Roasted Sweet Potatoes seasoned with Tex Mex-style spices. Sweet potatoes for the taste tests and winter menus were grown at Dickey Farms in Tontitown, Arkansas. Did you know, because of their sweet flavor and creamy texture, mashed sweet potatoes can be used instead of fat and sugar in many desserts (i.e. sweet potato brownies)? #harvestofthemonth #F2S #arkansasgrown
