Mayor Lioneld Jordan, Devin Howland, and Marlee Stark of the City of Fayetteville, toured Fayetteville High School today and were able to see the Medical Professions, Agriculture, Skilled Trades, Computer Science, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Television program areas.
This visit underscored the vital role FPS Career & Technical Education (CTE) plays in preparing students for diverse career pathways. Mayor Jordan interacted with students, teachers, and administrators, gaining insight into the benefits of CTE and how students are being prepared for the next steps after high school graduation.

FHS students interested in becoming a firefighter, paramedic, or emergency medical technician (EMT) will get the opportunity to jump-start their career during the 2024-25 school year! FHS is offering college credit courses that would lead to jobs directly out of high school in these fields. Students who were interested attended an informational meeting today led by Career & Technical Education Director Lisa Hotsenpiller and Fayetteville Fire Department firefighters. Students can sign up for this opportunity by contacting Deana Norman in the FHS College and Career Center.

Fayetteville Public Schools is hosting a Community Night of Coding event to celebrate Computer Science Education Week on Wednesday, December 6 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the FHS Cafeteria.
There will be hands-on computer science-related activities for pre-K through 12th-grade students and their families. Robots, minicomputers, games, crafts and more! Come play, make, and code with us!

Congratulations to the Fayetteville High School Film/TV program! They attended the annual Ozark Media Arts Festival and came out on top.
FHS Film/TV also received the Video Program of the Year award, the highest honor for TV/Film. It came with a cash prize worth $2,000 for their program!

Fayetteville High School held a college fair today for current juniors and seniors. The fair brought admissions officers from various colleges and universities to meet with and answer questions from students. The college fair was a great starting point for some students, a great way for students to discover new schools, and the perfect way for students to visit with multiple colleges and universities in one day! Fayetteville High School students in Mr. Holliday’s film class spent time at the Kessler Mountain Reserve capturing footage for mini-documentaries about Arkansas trees. Conservation professionals from the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust led students on a hike where they learned to identify trees by certain leaf characteristics. The students interviewed the experts and participated in interactive games to help retain information. #onefps
